Local Things to See in Palm Beach, FL

City Place

In Palm Beach County, the leading visitor destination is City Place. This mixed-use development for stores, shops, restaurants, apartments and entertainment was created on 72 acres on Okeechobee Road. Today it has more than 100 stores and eating and drinking establishments. City Place keeps a full schedule of events, many of which take place in a large open courtyard. It is a great place to spend the day with the family.

Clematis Street

Talk about nightlife, Clematis Street is where it is happening in the old, historic part of downtown West Palm Beach. Renovated, redone and yet still respecting the architecture of the old downtown. Clematis has been a great success and a tribute to the many civic leaders and entrepreneurs who have contributed to its creation.

Restaurants and bars abound. There are antique shops. And, most important of all– live music.

Clematis By Night is a Thursday evening event that takes place from 5:30 to 9 pm. It is interesting, it is lively and it is a major community attraction in Palm Beach County.

The Kravis Center for the Performing Arts

The Kravis Center will bring hundreds of highly esteemed artists to perform on its stages every year. Ballet, opera, popular music, plays and musicals, one-man shows and stand-up comics attract thousands of applauding patrons. The center’s crowded schedule means there is usually something special in town to see.

Kravis has three places to perform at its site on the highest spot in downtown West Palm Beach. Dreyfoos Concert Hall has 2,193 seats, the Rinker Playhouse seats 300, and the Gosman Amphitheatre will accommodate 1,400.

The Kravis attraction brings audiences from all over South Florida to West Palm.

Jupiter Lighthouse

The red Jupiter Lighthouse has been a beacon for mariners since it was constructed in the 19th Century. It has been carefully maintained and still stands tall near the mouth of the Jupiter Inlet on the Loxahatchee River. Anyone driving on U.S. 1 through Jupiter will see it plainly on the east side of the road upon a dune overlooking the river.

Climbing tours are offered and there is an old Florida museum on the waterfront nearby. The lighthouse and museum are another great place to take a family for a day trip in Palm Beach County
