BEST MONTHS FOR MARATHON FLORIDA FISHING

The MOST productive fishing is on the Marathon Reefs where you can catch big Kingfish and Spanish Mackerel along with hard fighting Snapper and Grouper all while enjoying beautiful weather and no snow
This is one of the prime inshore months for Bonefish along the shallow water flats where you can catch numbers on light tackle and fly. You can also break out some heavy leaders for the aggressive barracudas that roam the reefs while continuing to search for those snappers and groupers.
March is a great month to be a visitor or local in Marathon. Outdoor activities flood the city providing ample opportunities to eat well and get some excellent fishing in!
April is the month Inshore Fishing kicks into gear. Die-hard anglers come to Marathon for the Ultimate Fishing challenge, landing a trophy Tarpon. Tarpon Fishing dominates the waterways in April. Marlin and Swordfish also become available for those Offshore anglers
May is the beginning of Mahi-Mahi season along with when Marlin begin to run the best. The Tarpon Fishing is still incredibly strong along with being joined up by GIANT Snook. Don’t count out the Bonefish on the shallow flats as they are still roaming around
June is peak fishing season in Marathon, especially for all the major pelagic species. Mahi-Mahi, Marlin, Wahoo, and even Sharks can be caught in numbers to provide a fishing trip of a lifetime. Swimming in the deep water you can find Swordfish waiting to be caught.
July consists of more excellent offshore fishing, especially on the reefs along with amazing inshore adventures. Stay hydrated on the water while fishing during the hottest months of the year. Tarpon becomes harder to catch but Snook gets stronger.
Night fishing for Swordfish is the STRONGEST this time of year. High temperatures during the day can make this even sweeter. Troll the depths for the fish of a lifetime!
The Silver Ghosts reappear in September providing the most incredible time to catch Bonefish on the Flats!
October is the month when the temperatures drop slightly between 80-85 degrees and offshore fishing kicks back on. Get offshore to catch up with endless Yellowfin and Blackfin Tuna. Shallow waters begin to fill up again with Tarpon and Snook as the rain slowly fades away.
November is a transition month where the reefs begin to get more active with Grouper and Snapper along with schools of Jack Crevalle joining the party. Snook and Tarpon slowly begin to leave as the Permit, Pompano and Speckled Sea Trout move in!
Enjoy the holiday season on a white sandy beach with temperatures between 70-75 degrees as well as trolling offshore for Mahi-Mahi and Kingfish. You can also catch plenty of Trout in the shallows
