CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Florida anglers take heart, snook season reopens on March 1st in Florida’s Gulf of Mexico. Recreational fishing for snook will also be allowed in Everglades National Park and Monroe County but Gulf Snook Fishing Season is back on!.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the season will remain open through April 30. There is a one snook per day limit and the fish has to be at least 28 inches long and no more than 33 inches in length.
The fish is measured from the mouth closed to the farthest tip of the tail with the tail compressed or squeezed while the fish is lying on its side. A snook permit is required to keep snook, along with a saltwater fishing license unless exempt from the license requirements. Only hook-and-line gear is allowed when targeting or harvesting snook on a Gulf Snook Fishing Season.
It is illegal to buy or sell snook.
